St. Anthony of Padua Church in the Mission District of San Francisco has one of the largest groups of Third Order Franciscans, lay people who devote a part of their lives to religious works. So, it was an especially big blow to this community when their Holy Relic, a cross containing a piece of bone from the body of Saint Anthony of Padua himself, and three chalices were stolen in September of 2015. The thief broke a chain to enter the church through the back and broke into two locked closets before opening cabinet that housed the items. Although there were other items of value in the vicinity, no other items were stolen, leading clergy and the community to believe that the thief acted with intent. Some even speculate it was an inside job. While the thief may gain the estimated value of $30,000 for the chalices, for the parishioners, the relic is priceless. As Saint Anthony is the patron saint of lost things, parishioners struggle to accept its absence.

Along with dozens of other young Moroccan boys between 8 and 18 years old, Mohammed lives on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the port of Melilla, a Spanish autonomous town on the east coast of North Africa. Mohammed lives in the hope of one day stowing away aboard a freighter headed for Europe.

In Western culture, when we find ourselves in crisis, it's natural to question our existence and the meaning of life. We are suffering; we want to change. Eastern philosophies, yoga and meditation are keys to happiness, or so preach the countless Western adherents of these far Eastern practices. Buddhism is one path to enlightenment. Following this path to Nepal we meet the young Tibetan Buddhist monk, Tenzin, representative of a new generation, who is grappling with recognizable questions of modern life. The insights we garner from observing Tenzin unveil universal human flaw: the obsessive pursuit of happiness. The Sad Monk takes a look underneath the surface of a distinct and ideal environment; the holistic upbringing and rhythm of life in the monasteries of Nepal. We have something to learn from his story.

Their good efforts to stay on the ‘straight and narrow’ path are challenged when Dennis accidently joins their group. All of them have to ask themselves a question, do they have their addiction under control?

SHOT is an experimental film that tries to make formal sense out of senseless violence. Footage was found from every police shooting over the last two years for which there is available video. Each piece of footage is taken unedited, and aligned to the moment of the first gunshot. The lm is a moving composite, modeled after the composite photographs used by criminologists in the 19th century to try to understand the archetypical thief, rapist, and murderer. The end result is an uncanny wave of terror, violence, and outrage.

A story about how everything we love, everything we learn, everything we build, everything we fear, will one day be gone.
